Hermitage Hotel in Tennessee Recognised leading up to centennial celebration of the 19th Amendment.
The Interior Department announced on Tuesday that the Hermitage Hotel in Tennessee would be recognized as an important historical landmark. It was that site that the suffrage movement used as their headquarters. The recognition of this site comes as the 100th year anniversary of the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote, is just around the corner.
“The Hermitage Hotel played a pivotal role in our Nation’s fight to secure the right of women to vote through the passage of the 19th Amendment,” said U.S. Secretary of the Interior David L. Bernhardt. “I thank Senator Blackburn and Senator Alexander for their leadership in emphasizing the importance the Hermitage Hotel has as a National Historic Landmark.”
